واعلموا أن الإنسان إذا تعدى حدود الله وأراد الرجوع إليه بالتوبة يغفر له، وهو الحليم الذي لا يعجل بالعقوبة، بل يمهل عباده ليصلحوا بصالح أعمالهم ما أفسدوا بما سبق من زلّاتهم، فعليكم أن تجتنبوا أسباب العقوبة، وتعملوا بما أمرتم به، وتغتنموا زمان الحياة القصيرة حتى لا تأسوا على ما فاتكم. يغفر الله، فلا يأخذ الإنسانَ إلا بما يفعل، ولا يأخذه بما يجول بخاطره، ولا بما تحدثه به نفسه، ومَن هَمَّ بسيئة فلم يفعلها لم يكتب عليه شيء، تبارك الله سبحانه هو المنتقم الجبار العفو القدير، الغفور الرحيم. لَوْلَا مغفرته وحلمه لَعَنِتَّم غَايَة الْعَنَت (العنت: الهلاك). فَإِنَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ مطلع عَلَيْكُم يعلم مَا فِي قُلُوبكُمْ وَيعلم مَا تَعْمَلُونَ. فَإِن وَقَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْء مِمَّا نهاكم عَنهُ؛ فبادروا إِلَيْهِ بِالتَّوْبَةِ وَالِاسْتِغْفَار؛ فَإِنَّهُ الغفور الْحَلِيم. يُبَيِّنُ أَنَّ لِلْإِنْسَانِ مَخْرَجًا بِالتَّوْبَةِ إِذَا هُوَ تَعَدَّى شَيْئًا مِنَ الْحُدُودِ، وَأَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ إِلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَإِنَّهُ غَفُورٌ لَهُ، حَلِيمٌ لَا يُعَجِّلُ بِعُقُوبَتِهِ، بَلْ يُمْهِلُهُ؛ لِيُصْلِحَ بِحُسْنِ الْعَمَلِ مَا أَفْسَدَ بِمَا سَبَقَ مِنَ الزَّلَلِ. الحليم: الذي يَدِرُّ على خلقه، النعم الظاهرة والباطنة، مع معاصيهم وكثرة زلاَّتهم، فيحلم عن مقابلة العاصين بعصيانهم. ويستعتبهم كي يتوبوا، ويمهلهم كي ينيبوا. سبحانه وتعالى يعلم ضعف النفس البشرية، فإن كان قد حدث منها شيء فالله يعطيها الفرصة في أن يتوب صاحبها لأنه سبحانه هو الغفور الحليم. الواجب على العاقل، إذا غضب واحتدَّ أن يذكر كثرة حلم الله عنه مع تواتر انتهاكه محارمه وتعديه حرماته، ثم يحلم، ولا يخرجه غيظه إلى الدخول في أسباب المعاصي. لينظروا إلى مغفرة الله التي وسعت ذنوبهم. وإلى حلمه الذي أمهلهم فلم يمجل بأخذهم بها! لا يعاجل في العقوبة، يمهل، ولا يهمل، ويتوب على من تاب، ويعفو عن كثير. واعلموا أن الله غفور رحيم لما فرط منكم من الذنب، حليم لا يعجل بالعقوبة. لا يعجل بالعقوبة، تقول العرب: ضع الهودج على أحلم الجمال. لا يعجل بالعقوبة على من جاهره بالمعصية بل يستر عليه. أي غفور ذو تجاوز، حليم حيث لم يعجل عليكم بالعقوبة. أي يمحو ذنب من أناب ولا يعاجل العقوبة لمن عصاه. لا يعاجلكم بالعقوبة على الجهر بالمعصية بل يسترها. لا يعاجلكم بحرمان قصدكم، إن صح مقصدكم. فلا يعجّل العقوبة، فلا تغترّوا بإمهاله. أي: لا يعجِّل بالعقوبة. لا يعاجلكم بالعقوبة. لَا يُعَجِّلُ بِالْعُقُوبَةِ.
